How to enjoy Easter treats without going overboard

With Easter just around the corner, I wanted to share a little reminder - you can enjoy the treats that come with this season without feeling guilty, bloated or like you've fallen off track.
You don’t have to “ban” yourself from hot cross buns or chocolate eggs to feel good in your body. You just need to go in with a plan that feels balanced and satisfying.
I love a hot cross bun lathered in butter as well so here are a few simple tips to help you enjoy your favourite Easter foods more mindfully:

Hot cross buns? Pair it with protein.
If you’re someone who lives for a hot cross bun (toasted, with butter... yes please), go for it! Just try having it alongside a protein source - like Greek yoghurt, a boiled egg, or a smoothie. That way, you’ll stay fuller for longer and avoid the spike-crash-snack cycle.
Chocolate eggs? Don’t eat straight from the packet.
It sounds simple, but it works - take your favourite Easter eggs, pop a couple into a bowl or onto a plate, then put the packet away. Eat slowly, enjoy every bite, and check in with how you’re feeling. You don’t need to finish the whole lot in one go (and you’ll probably enjoy it more if you don’t).
Don’t skip meals to “save up” for treats
It’s tempting to skip brekkie or lunch if you know there’ll be chocolate or a big family feast later - but this usually backfires. You’ll end up overly hungry, which makes it harder to eat mindfully and easier to overdo it. Instead, stick to your usual meals and include protein and fibre so you feel satisfied and in control when the treats come out.
This Easter, think of treats as something to be savored, not something to stress about. A little mindfulness goes a long way - and your body (and mind) will thank you for it.
Wishing you a restful, treat-filled, family-filled long weekend
Take care,
Angela
